The Cameras Are Rolling! Charleston Through Their Eyes Is Almost Here!
Six stories. Six different perspectives. One city we all call Charleston.
For months, I've been talking about an idea that I believe can bring something different to the way we experience and understand Charleston, South Carolina.
Now, that idea is becoming a reality!
This week, we're recording the first six episodes of Charleston Through Their Eyes, and our very first episode is scheduled to premiere the week of October 26, 2026!
I can't begin to tell you how excited I am to finally share these conversations.
And before I tell you more, I have one small favor to ask.

It's free, takes just a moment, and will help us build an audience for these wonderful Charleston stories before our first episode even airs.

Everyone Has a Charleston Story
When I first began developing Charleston Through Their Eyes, I had one simple thought: Charleston is an extraordinary place, but what makes it truly interesting isn't just its historic buildings, beautiful beaches, wonderful restaurants, or centuries of history.
It's the people.
It's the people who were born here and have watched the city transform. It's the people who moved here from somewhere else, sometimes with a carefully thought-out plan and sometimes because life took an unexpected turn.
It's the entrepreneurs who took a chance on a dream, the artists who see beauty in places the rest of us might overlook, and the everyday people whose experiences make Charleston what it is today.
Every one of them has a story worth hearing.
And that's what this podcast is all about.
This Isn't Just Another Charleston Podcast
There are already plenty of wonderful resources that tell us where to eat, what to see, and what to do in Charleston.
I enjoy many of them myself.
But I wanted to create something that goes a little deeper.
I want to understand what brought people here, what keeps them here, what they love about Charleston, what frustrates them, and how their experiences have shaped the way they see this community.
We'll talk about their businesses, their families, their passions, and their challenges.
We'll also talk about Charleston itself.
What has changed? What should never change? What do newcomers misunderstand about the city? What can longtime residents teach us?
Some conversations will be funny. Some will be surprising. Others may touch on difficult subjects.
That's important to me because Charleston has a complicated history and an equally interesting present. I don't want to tell only the pretty stories.
I want to hear the real ones.
From an Idea to the First Recording
There's something exciting about seeing a project move from a collection of notes, ideas, and plans into actual conversations with real people.
Over the past several months, I've been reaching out to potential guests, learning about their backgrounds, developing questions, and putting the pieces together.
And now we're finally ready to turn on the cameras.
One thing I've already discovered is that almost everyone has a much more interesting story than you might expect.
A business owner isn't simply a business owner. A photographer isn't simply someone who takes beautiful pictures. A person who moves here isn't simply another transplant.
There are decisions, sacrifices, memories, successes, and sometimes disappointments behind every story.
Those are the things I want to discover.
And I hope you'll enjoy discovering them with me.

One Last Thing: I'd Love Your Help
As we prepare to launch, there's something else I'd love to hear from you.
Whose Charleston story do you think deserves to be told?
It might be a neighbor, a business owner, an artist, a historian, a community volunteer, or someone whose story has never received the attention it deserves.
You might even have a story you'd like to share yourself.
I'm always looking for interesting people, and I suspect some of our best future guests will come from your suggestions.
As the series grows, I hope to introduce you to an even broader range of Charlestonians, from people whose families have lived here for generations to those who arrived just recently. We'll explore different occupations, neighborhoods, cultures, traditions, and viewpoints.
The goal isn't to convince everyone to see Charleston the same way.
It's to give everyone a chance to see Charleston through someone else's eyes.
